The short answer

The Private Ephesus Ancient City Tour is a 3-hour shore excursion from Kusadasi Cruise Port: a 20-minute drive, about two hours inside Ephesus with a licensed private guide, entered through the upper gate so the walk runs downhill. From USD 73 per person with entrance fees included (2026 rates), no pre-payment, and on-time return to your ship guaranteed.

Overview

About this tour

This is our shortest tour and the one we recommend when your ship gives you a tight window: a 20-minute drive from Kusadasi Port, roughly two hours inside the best-preserved Roman city in the eastern Mediterranean, and a comfortable margin back at the gangway. No add-on stops, no shopping detours. Your guide enters with you through the upper gate so the entire walk runs downhill, times the route to stay ahead of the big cruise groups, and paces the visit to your interest rather than a fixed script, while your driver repositions the air-conditioned vehicle to the lower gate.

Who this tour is for

Guests on short port calls, travelers who know exactly what they came for, and anyone who would rather spend their time inside Ephesus than driving between secondary sites. It also suits guests joining a beach afternoon or an independent plan later in the day: you can be back in Kusadasi by late morning with the main event already done.

Itinerary

Step by step

Times depend on your ship's arrival or your preferred start. Tell us in the booking form and we time everything around it.

  1. 01

Meet at Starbucks, Kuşadası port plaza

Your guide waits with a small named sign, a calm meeting point away from the crowd at the exit gate. Departure time is your choice.

  2. 02

Drive to the upper gate of Ephesus

About 20 minutes from the port, straight to the higher entrance.

  3. 03

    Ephesus Ancient City, walked downhill

Roughly two hours from the State Agora past the Temple of Hadrian and the Library of Celsus to the Grand Theatre, ahead of the large groups.

  4. 04

Vehicle pickup at the lower gate

Your driver collects you exactly where the walking ends.

  5. 05

    Return to Kuşadası port

Back at the gangway well before your deadline.

How we meet you

Skip the exit-gate scramble. Walk through the shopping plaza, find your guide by name at Starbucks, then step into the private vehicle waiting outside.

Look for the sign with your name

Your guide carries a small printed card with your booking name. No squinting at a wall of signs at the exit gate, no asking strangers. You spot it the moment you arrive.

Upper Gate in, Lower Gate out

Your private vehicle drops you at the top of Ephesus Ancient City and collects you at the bottom. About 1.5 kilometres of downhill walking, no climbing back.

Why book direct

You book with the local team that runs the tour, not a reseller. That means same-day confirmation of your guide and vehicle, a no-deposit reservation, and one point of contact who is actually responsible for your day. Our meeting point, a named sign at Starbucks inside the port plaza, was designed for cruise guests, because cruise guests are who we host every morning.
