What premium means on an Ephesus day

At Tours of Ephesus premium is not an upgrade you add at checkout. It is the standard every private tour runs on, the same standard of guide, vehicle and guarantee whether you book three hours or seven. The right column is what a typical booking-app listing gives, so you can compare like with like. How the QR tickets work is on our Ephesus skip-the-line tickets page, and why nothing is paid in advance is in why we don’t ask for upfront payment.

How your day starts

Your guide is at the port before you are, waiting at the Starbucks terrace two minutes from the gangway with a sign that has your name on it. The vehicle is parked at the port exit. About twenty minutes later you are at the gates of Ephesus.

Premium Ephesus tour prices for 2027, by party size

Every price is per person and includes the entrance tickets for the sites on the programme, the guide, the vehicle and the driver. The more of you share the day, the less each pays. Children under 9 free; 9 and over pay the full rate.

Why not cheaper? A private day has a floor: the state tickets, a licensed guide’s statutory day rate and a vehicle with its driver. The chart below shows that floor by group size. Read what an Ephesus tour from Kuşadası really costs and why USD 40 tours fail cruise guests.

The floor, by group size

Ticket money stays. Everything else divides.

This is the floor under an honest Ephesus tour cost: the state ticket, plus half a statutory guide day and half a vehicle day, shared across the party.

The floor per person, half-day allocation

Ticket money, set by the stateGuide, vehicle, driver, parking

The operating segment assumes the cheaper of our two 2026 vehicle rates and a half-day allocation: the same guide and the same vehicle serve a second party in the afternoon, so a morning tour carries half of each day cost rather than all of it. At the dearer vehicle the floor for a couple is USD 102.

The honesty check on our own model

Load a whole guide day and a whole vehicle day onto a single three-hour morning and the floor for a couple becomes USD 141 per person, which is more than we charge. A model that prices our morning above our own rate is the wrong model. We publish the half-day version instead, even though the bigger number would flatter us.

Planned around your ship

We start from your ship’s arrival and all-aboard time and work backwards, so the return to the port is at least 90 minutes before departure. On busy days, when several ships are in, we change the order of the sites to stay ahead of the coach groups. You can see which ships are in Kuşadası on your date.

Half-Day EssentialsTours of 3 to 4 hours
Built for short port calls: Ephesus is only 20-25 minutes from the ship, so even a tight window fits the essential sites.
Extended Half-DayTours of 5 to 5.5 hours
Five to six hours ashore adds the Virgin Mary, St. John or Sirince without pressure, with lunch included on every route.
Full-DayTours of 5 to 7 hours
Seven hours or more in port opens the complete circuits: every major site, quiet Ionia, or the definitive five-stop day.

A guide line only: we confirm every plan against your ship’s published times before you book.

Which tour for whom

Twelve private tours, all run to the same standard of guide, vehicle and guarantee. Prices are 2027 per person for two guests. Want something else? Build it in our tailor-made planner.

First time in Ephesus

The ancient city from the Upper Gate down to the Library of Celsus, and the sites people come for, without rushing.

Families with children

26 August 2026: Fulya meets the youngest guest of the day before the drive to Ephesus.

Private, so the pace follows the children, with the vehicle close by. Children under 9 free; 9 and over pay the full rate.

A slower pace or limited mobility

Ephesus is 1.5 kilometres of uneven marble, downhill. We shorten the walk from the Lower Gate, keep the vehicle near and add rests in the shade. See our private tour planned around your pace and the Ephesus map with every step.

The Biblical route

Ephesus read through Acts 19, the House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St John.

Everything included, lunch too

Tickets, guide, vehicle and a traditional Turkish lunch inside one price.

More than Ephesus

Add the hill village of Şirince, or the ancient cities of Miletus and Didyma on a long day in port.

Luxury and small-ship guests

Our full days suit long calls. We also plan ship-specific 2027 days: for Windstar’s Wind Surf and Star Legend from USD 174 per person, and for The Ritz-Carlton Ilma from USD 323 for two. More on our luxury cruise Ephesus tours page.

Back at your ship, guaranteed

  • Your ship, tracked all day

The official port schedule the day before, the ship’s live position in the morning, our contacts at the port, and the guide’s own eyes at the gangway.

  • Guide and operations in contact

Our operations team stays in touch with your guide through the day and changes the plan if the ship does.

  • 90 minutes to spare

We plan the return to the port at least 90 minutes before your ship departs.

  • And if it ever went wrong

In more than 25 years no Tours of Ephesus guest has missed a ship. If it happened, we would cover the transfer to your next port.

How we track your cruise ship, step by step

The guides, and the guests

Every guide we work with holds the Ministry of Culture and Tourism professional guide licence. We pay them properly, which is why the best guides in the region choose to work with us, and why guests who come back often ask for one by name.

We cap the number of tours each day at the size of our guide team, so the right guide meets the right guests. Meet them all on our Ephesus tour guides page.

How we compare, honestly

There are three ways to see Ephesus from a cruise ship. Each suits someone. This is how they differ on the things cruise guests ask us about most.

Book direct, and book early

  1. Tell us your ship, date and party

By WhatsApp on +90 532 324 2489 or by email. Mention anything that matters: a slower pace, children, a site you have waited years to see.

  2. We reply with a plan, a price and a guide

A day built around your ship, the 2027 price for your party, and the guide we think suits you. Nothing to pay, no card details.

  3. Meet us at the port, pay at the end

Your guide waits at the Starbucks terrace with your name. You pay in cash or by card when the tour is over.

We run only as many tours each day as we have guides, so on days when several ships are in Kuşadası we can be full. We would rather say so than send you an untested guide. Booking early keeps your date and your guide safe.

One request in return: a guide and a vehicle are reserved for your day and turn other work away for it. If your plans change, cancelling is free up to 48 hours before, and even a last-minute message lets us tell them.

Premium Ephesus tours: your questions

Ask anything else on WhatsApp, +90 532 324 2489, and someone from our team answers the same day.

The best premium Ephesus tour is a fully private day built around your ship: a licensed expert guide, a Mercedes vehicle, QR-coded skip-the-line tickets and a start time set by your arrival and all-aboard. Three good starting points are the Ephesus half day, Ephesus with the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis, and the all-inclusive day with a Turkish lunch. Prices start at USD 136 per person for two guests in 2027, entrance fees included.

With Tours of Ephesus, a private Ephesus half day for two costs USD 136 per person in 2027, USD 272 for the party, with the entrance tickets included. A full day with lunch, the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis costs USD 186 per person for two. You pay at the end of the tour, and we send a personal quote for your exact party and ship.

Prices are per person and fall as the party grows: the half day is USD 136 per person for two to four guests and USD 115 for five to eight. Every price includes the entrance tickets for the sites on the programme, the guide, the vehicle and the driver. Children under 9 free; 9 and over pay the full rate.

For most cruise guests the best value is Ephesus with the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis. It covers the three sites people come for in about four hours, at USD 161 per person for two with every ticket included. Value here means nothing to add on the day: no ticket queue, no shopping stop, no deposit, and a guide who is paid properly and stays with you the whole time.

Yes. The private Ephesus half day is our shortest tour, about three hours, at USD 136 per person for two, and it costs USD 115 per person when five to eight guests share it. Children under 9 travel free. What we never do is cut the guide's pay or the vehicle to reach a lower headline price.

We do not run discounts or flash deals: the same fair price applies to every guest, and it already includes the entrance tickets. The real savings are built in: children under 9 travel free, the per-person price falls as your party grows, and nothing is paid until the tour is over. Booking early secures the guide you want on busy ship days.

Tours of Ephesus is a licensed local operator (TÜRSAB 2290) that designs each day around the passenger, where booking apps resell one fixed programme. Our guides are licensed experts we pay well, the vehicles are Mercedes, the tickets are QR-coded, and the return to your ship is guaranteed. You pay nothing until the tour is over, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before.

Check five things before you book an Ephesus tour operator in Kuşadası. Look for a TÜRSAB licence number, guides named and licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a written on-time return guarantee with what happens if a ship is missed, recent dated reviews, and whether you must pay in advance. A good operator answers all five in writing within hours. We publish ours on this page.

Every Ephesus tour review on our TripAdvisor listing in 2026 has been five stars (checked 29 October 2026). Many of our guests come back or are sent by friends, and they often ask for a guide by name. The guest photos further down this page are from real tours, each dated and with the guide named.

Yes. Every Tours of Ephesus tour is private to your party, with one of our 24 licensed guides, each holding the Ministry of Culture and Tourism professional guide licence, working in 6 languages. We match the guide to your interests and language, and guests who return often ask for the same guide again.

Yes. Tours of Ephesus buys your entrance tickets in advance and your guide carries them as QR codes, so you walk past the ticket office and straight to the turnstile. The Ephesus ticket, 40 EUR until 31 March 2027 and 45 EUR from 1 April 2027, is included in our price, and we time the entry to stay ahead of the cruise coach groups.

For families we suggest Ephesus with the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis, about four hours, or the all-inclusive day if the children like a proper lunch break. The tour is private, so the pace follows the children, and the vehicle waits close by. Children under 9 free; 9 and over pay the full rate.

There is no group to join: every Tours of Ephesus tour is private to your own party, from two guests upwards, with no strangers added. Smaller parties travel in a Mercedes V-Class, Vito or Sprinter; large groups get a midibus or coach and the same private guide.

Yes. The all-inclusive day covers Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis and a traditional Turkish lunch at a family-run restaurant, in five to six hours, at USD 186 per person for two. Entrance tickets, guide, vehicle and lunch are inside that price; drinks at lunch and the Terrace Houses ticket are extra.

Our tours are built for cruise guests, so they start at Kuşadası cruise port rather than at hotels. Your guide waits at the Starbucks terrace inside the port plaza, about two minutes from the gangway, holding a welcome sign with your name, and the vehicle is parked at the port exit.

Yes. Beyond Ephesus we visit the House of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis, the Basilica of St John, the Ephesus Archaeological Museum, the hill village of Şirince, and on a longer day the ancient cities of Miletus and Didyma. Your ship time decides how many fit, and we plan the order to stay out of the crowds.

With Tours of Ephesus, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the tour and nothing is paid in advance. There is no deposit and no card details; you pay at the end of the tour in cash or by card. If your ship skips Kuşadası there is no tour and no charge. Because the guide and vehicle are reserved for your day, please tell us if you cannot come, even at the last minute.

Tours of Ephesus guests travel in a private Mercedes V-Class, Vito or Sprinter, matched to your party, with leather seats, Wi-Fi, cold water, a fridge and panoramic windows for the drive. It is yours alone for the day and waits for you at each site; large groups travel in a midibus or coach.

Book directly with us by WhatsApp on +90 532 324 2489 or by email at booking@toursofephesus.com, with your ship, date and party size. We reply quickly with a personal plan and price. Booking direct means you talk to the people who run the day, and on busy ship days it is the only way to be sure of a guide, because our daily tours are capped at the size of our guide team.

Yes. Every day is planned around your ship time, your pace and what you want to see: add the Terrace Houses or the museum, swap a site, slow everything down, or start later. You can also build your own day with our tailor-made planner and we check it against your ship before you book.

Yes. Tours of Ephesus plans your return to the port at least 90 minutes before your ship departs, our operations team tracks your ship all day and stays in contact with your guide, and in more than 25 years no Tours of Ephesus guest has missed a ship. If it ever happened, we would cover the transfer to your next port.

Ephesus is about 20 kilometres from Kuşadası cruise port, a 20 to 25 minute drive. A private Ephesus visit takes about three hours from the port and back; with the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis it is about four, and a full day with lunch runs five to seven hours.

At the Starbucks terrace inside the Kuşadası port shopping plaza, about two minutes on foot from the gangway. Your guide is there before you arrive, holding a welcome sign with your name, and walks you to the private vehicle at the port exit.

It can be, with planning. The classic route is about 1.5 kilometres downhill on uneven marble with no step-free alternative, so for slower walkers we enter from the Lower Gate for a shorter visit with the vehicle close by, add rest stops in the shade, and drop sites that involve steps. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book and we design the day around them.

For most guests, yes: the Terrace Houses are the best-preserved Roman homes in Ephesus, with wall paintings and mosaics under a protective roof. The ticket is EUR 16 per person in 2027 and the visit adds about 30 minutes; it climbs steel walkways with steps, so it is not suitable for every guest.

The ship's excursion puts you on a shared coach on a fixed timetable; a private tour gives your party its own guide and vehicle, starts when you step off, and moves at your pace. For two guests our private half day is USD 136 per person with the entrance ticket included. With us the return to the ship is guaranteed too, and if a ship were ever missed we would cover the transfer to your next port.

No shopping stop unless you ask for one. Your 3 to 7 hours ashore are spent on the sites you came for; if you would like to see a carpet or ceramics workshop near Selçuk, tell us and we add it.

Send us your ship and date. We will plan the rest.
